A Robot Powered World

In 2011 my studio was comissioned by Google to make a mobile game to be pre-installed on their Xoom tablet. We created Cordy, a little robot with a big job - to power up his world. Players are able to help Cordy run, jump, push, pull, lift, throw, bounce, swing, and hover in this 3D puzzle platformer. Each of the levels are bite-sized experiences that focus on fun physics mechanics & Rube Goldberg style puzzles.

Creating Cordy

My brothers and I grew up as huge fans of games like Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Sonic. We loved the colorful worlds, fast paced gameplay, and warm approachable characters. The environments were places that you want to spend time exploring, filled with magic and adventure.

While designing Cordy, we wanted him to be mechanical, but also have a spark of inner life. We sketched designs of old TV sets with nice warm glows, wooden record players with worn brass dials, and walky-talky radios from our childhood.

Cordy's day to day existence was inspired by the Little Prince taking care of his tiny planet. I always liked how his world was so small that he could quickly run around it. It seemed like he had a very cozy existence.

Praise for Cordy
