Cordy Takes to the Sky!

In 2012 SilverTree created the next installment in the Cordy franchise, Cordy Sky. Our hero crash lands on a mysterious sky planet, where he meets a stranded robot named Volt. Together they take to the sky to refuel their rocket ship and head toward undiscovered planets. Players guide Cordy through incredible springs, bumpers, hover beams, and more in this award winning mobile game.

Fun Takes a New Form

For our followup to Cordy, we wanted to create a more casual experience. Cordy Sky allows one handed gameplay, which proves to be very useful in making the game accessible to a younger audience.

For the action packed tone of the game we drew inspiration from mobile games like Temple Run, Doodle Jump and Jetpack Joyride, which all have intuitive single handed controls.

Whereas Cordy was played left to right, Cordy Sky thrust our hero upward into the atmosphere. This new form of gameplay meant a fresh set of tools was needed to build the game. The gameplay could potentially be endless, so we needed a system that would let us constanly stream envirmonments, rewards, and obstacles.

New Tools, New Abilities

The Design Team and the Programming Team worked together to create a new set of Tools for this specific need. We looked to music editors like Pro Tools and Garage Band for inspiration. Levels were created by streaming content from a library of obstacle sets. Designers could lay out obstacles and rewards like musical notation. Using the tool was almost as playing the game!
